SUMMARY:Climate Cafe Conversations
DESCRIPTION:Multiple dates. Please see events calendar. \nWhat to expect\nPerhaps you have begun to worry about what is happening to our climate and what this might mean for you and your family and friends\, also for other species. Or maybe you are an activist or professional in the climate field\, used to feeling the pain of climate grief or eco-anxiety and keeping it at bay by all the work you do. \nThe focus of discussion in a Climate Café is participant’s immediate thoughts and feelings\, rather than what we are doing (or not doing) about it. In a word we make space for the trouble\, instead of merely wishing it away. It is a simple\, friendly hospitable space where fears\, uncertainties and other difficult feelings can be safely expressed and acknowledged. This allows for a conversation without pre-set themes or objectives in mind\, other than how you are affected by the climate emergency and related biodiversity crisis. \nThat this is happening for real is taken as read. Accordingly it is NOT an event for arguing about the validity of the science. It is also an advice-free zone with no pressure to take action\, join a group or change your mind on anything. \nYou may on a previous occasion\, in some other context\, have felt shut down when you have tried to voice your concerns. Perhaps someone else found the topic too difficult or challenging. With this in mind Climate Cafes have 5 simple guidelines: \n\nSay what you really\, actually feel\nTake it in turns to speak. Be mindful of how much space you are taking up; and try not to interrupt others.\nObserve confidentiality i.e. you don’t report what others said to third parties who were not present.\nListen and take an interest in other’s views\, and don’t try to impose your own.\nSilence is fine. So is anger. Tears also have a place.\n\nFacilitated by Guy Gladstone \nMember of Seaford Environmental Alliance and The Climate Psychology Alliance. \nIf you have a question about this event please ring me on 01323 891097.

SUMMARY:Climate Cafe Conversations - Share your feelings about the climate and ecological emergency
DESCRIPTION:What to expect\nPerhaps you have begun to worry about what is happening to our climate and what this might mean for you and your family and friends\, also for other species.

DESCRIPTION:What to expect\nPerhaps you have begun to worry about what is happening to our climate and what this might mean for you and your family and friends\, also for other species.

SUMMARY:Craftivists' meet up
DESCRIPTION:We’re changing the world one stitch at a time!\nThis is a new group wanting to share and learn knitting\, crochet\, sewing skills etc and use  it to influence change and protect the environment. \nWe’ll make sustainable gifts\, useful items\, hub displays\, protest banners- anything we like! And gain skills and friendships for resilience too.  We’ll use secondhand materials and avoid buying new. \nAt the moment we are meeting fortnightly on a Thursday at 7pm at the Hub\, but times and venues will vary\, to include as many people as possible. See our events calendar for dates. \nPeople of all ages are welcome. If you are under 16\, we will need your parent or carer to introduce you to us\, and let us know your arrangements for getting home safely afterwards. We may ask for an adult to stay with you. \n*Craftivism is a form of activism\, typically incorporating elements of anti-capitalism\, environmentalism\, solidarity\, or third-wave feminism\, that is centered on practices of craft – or what has traditionally been referred to as “domestic arts”. Craftivism includes\, but is not limited to\, various forms of needlework including yarn-bombing or cross-stitch. Craftivism is a social process of collective empowerment\, action\, expression and negotiation.
