Here's a bit more detail about how the day will work...
- People will bring their items to a ‘reception desk’ where they will be quickly looked over to make sure we can help. If they are happy they give some details and sign to say they agree to the ‘house rules’ – a copy of these can be found here.
- The person will join the waiting area. This is a good opportunity to grab some tea and cake!
- When it’s their turn they will work with a repairer to find out what’s wrong and attempt a fix. There is a rough time limit – normally around 30 minutes. After this it’s up to the repair if they want to still try.
- Hopefully all goes well and the item is fixed. The happy customer lets the reception desk know the outcome.
Important note: This is a not-for-profit enterprise. We’re just trying to get enough funds to keep the project going and everything will be paid for by donations on a ‘pay as you feel’ basis… even items in the cafe! This way we can guarantee to help everyone no matter how much money they have.
