“Pledges for the Planet” at the Sustainable Seaford Fair

7 July 2025  |  by Wendy Pickles

We had a lovely afternoon at the Sustainable Seaford Fair on Saturday 21 June. SEA volunteers enjoyed wandering the Fair and chatting with other environmental and sustainability campaigners from the local area, joining in with fun interactive games at the stalls and listening to excellent musical performances from Seaford Head pupils.

At the SEA stall conversations were had around how best to reduce carbon emissions, how to combat plastic pollution and how to support biodiversity in nature. In all, 23 new “pledges for the planet” were made. These were written down on paper hearts and strung up around the stall. We hope the pledgees are getting on well with their promises and look forward to hearing the results of their efforts.

If you were unable to visit the Fair or the SEA stall, you can still make your own “pledge for the planet”. Have a look at the photos for ideas and do let us know what you have promised. And why not try this simple carbon calculator to find out which areas of your life to focus on in order to reduce your carbon footprint? https://carbon-calculator.climatehero.org/?source=climateherome

Huge thanks to Sharing Skills for organising the Sustainable Fair and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
