The National Emergency Briefing

In November 2025, ten of the UK’s leading experts presented a briefing to an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media with the latest implications of the climate and nature crisis. They covered climate science, tipping points, extreme weather, national security, health, food security and the economy.

Earlier this year, a new film, ‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ was launched, with highlights from the national briefing, and responses from some well known Brits. Local people are arranging screenings in their communities, workplaces, schools, churches… anywhere and everywhere. Well over 3,400 screenings have been arranged nationwide and an estimated 185,000 people have seen the film! Screenings are followed by a community discussion to explore our response and the way forward. One of the most common comments after the film is ‘I finally understand the wider picture’. In a recent survey by Bath University and the University of Gloucester, 89% of people said they felt more informed after watching the film and 87% felt more motivated to act

Here in Lewes constituency an active local group has already shown the film twice in Seaford and Lewes, East Dean, Rodmell, Ringmer and Polegate. Screenings in Peacehaven, Newhaven and Saltdean are coming up:

Join our local group

People from across the constituency are working together to organise screenings in community centres, places of workshop, clubs and workplaces. We’re also lobbying our MP James MacCleary to take deeper and more decisive action to tell constituents about the crisis and represent us in Parliament.
